This crowd is watching the tail end of the May Day Parade as it ends at Powderhorn Park. This is the intersection of 15th Avenue and 34th Street, looking west towards the park.
The parade is organized by the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater, and is followed by a festival at the park. The theater has a performance on the east shore of the lake. commentsPost a comment on this pictureThis page last modified:2002-04-10 | |

Minneapolis' May Day Parade is one of a kind. It not only a parade trumpeting progressive political and social ideals, but it has become a Spring rite. Spring arrives like an epiphany with this welcoming ritual.
There is really no other place in the country that has a celebration of May Day quite like this. Definitely something to participate in.
