You are between 45th and 46th Street on Chowen Avenue South. This is the west side of the street. I took this picture because of the interesting landscaping and slope of the yards on this block.

Thats a pretty picture and that neighborhood looks nice. I think city when I see it and I'd like to be in a big city like Minneapolis! I am tired of the country! Thanks for the great photos!

Thats pretty. I am seriously thinking of possibly relocating to the states and Minnesota and Minneapolis sound nice. I knew an american who was from Minnesota and he went back as he missed it. I really enjoy your website! Keep it up!

How much snow does Minneapolis get?
Jon Minneapolis -- 2000-10-18
We get a fair amount but not as much as many people from other states tend to think. We have the four seasons. And like Georgia we have friendly and caring people.

Does anyone know where the name for this street came from?

I live 1 1/2 blocks south of where this photo was taken. I THINK that Mr. Chowen was a Minneapolis councilman (or some such politician) but remain curious and willing to be corrected. If I find more I will pass it along.

I doubt that anyone will read this because it is an older website. I am 22 years old and lived in Minnesota until I left for school in Florida. I actually (believe it or not) lived in this house pictured here. I was in fourth and fifth grade andthis place still holds great memories for me. The guy who is the Minnesota Vikings mascot lives right up the street with his lovely daughters Kata, Kayla and Fina. I spent the rest of my years in northern Minnesota. Walker to be exact and I can assure you that Minnesota is a beautiful place to be, and a beautiful place to be from. I can't wait to graduate and go home!

This is
a terrific neighborhood. I live about 1/2 mile from this house. I walk my dog at all hours of the day and evening and am never afraid. People out on their porches chatting-kids playing in yards. Wonderful place to live!

I lived 9 blocks south of here and one block west on 54th and Drew Ave. S. Moved from there to Kenyon, MN in 1944. Sheesh that was a long time ago! There were no houses on this street or any other south of 54th Ave. It was the city limits as was France, a few blocks west. The Como Harriet streetcar line went to 54th and France Ave. S. There was a grocery store there -- Trisler's Grocery!! I remember the area well even though I was only 10 yrs. old when we moved.
Thanks for the great city pictures--all of them!
