This is the Forbidden City in downtown Beijing, China. This view is from across the moat and outside the outer wall at the northwest corner.
I belive the fog in this photo is smog -- Beijing is tied with Mexico City as the most polluted capitol city on Earth. I found the air in central Beijing similar to breathing in the exhaust of a car.
