This French Catholic Church behind Riverplace and St.Anthony Main is the oldest church in continuous operation in the city of Minneapolis. It opened in 1877 and is active today.

To easily visualize what this structure looked like in the 19th century, just imagine it without the wooden steeple and without the entry room beneath it. The stairs have always been there though, in one form or another. And someone has always had to shovel them (as I did as a youthful alter boy!).

I went on a churches tour of the area and we were told this was originally built as a Universalist church with no ornamentation. That really surprised me.
