You are looking west from Hennepin and 7th Street at the former home of "Northern Lights" records. This alternative-oriented record store started out at "Hot Licks" on block E, one block to the right.
Target Center, one block up on 1st Avenue North, is visible in the background at the far right. City Center is behind you on the right. This space has been renovated and is now the restored Pantages Theater. links

much more importantly than being the former home of "northern lights", this building is the former Pantages Theater. It is about to be restored back to its former glory, I believe renovation begins sometime this fall. No longer will it be the eyesore that you see here.

Before Northern Lights the space was for many years, another (unrelated) record store: Music City.
