Socioeconomic status shows when people have wealth and money. Tagaytay is not where poor people are supposed to stay. It is a tourist spot.

Tagaytay is not where there suppose to stay because it's a tourist spot? What are you an idiot! These people would do anything to live in some fancy house or live in Glendale, California like you Juanita but they don't have a choice! Get off your high horse lady! Also, Tagaytay is a city, by definition, people live in a city.

Way to go Karl, and yes, she is clueless and an idiot! Juanita, you shouldn’t think that way because you are living a good life in Glendale. If you were on their shoes, what are you going to do? They want to make a living and trying to survive! You want to eject these people because Tagaytay is a tourist spot! I don’t get the point. Hey, wake up and don’t be such a snut!

I agree that Juanita is an idiot!! she's lucky cause she's not one of them. i don't give a damm if this place a tourist spot, this poor people are just trying to find food to put on their plates!!almost half of the pop.of this country are poor but they also deserves some respect!!and oh,Juanita try to clean and fry my tilapia at seafood city k!

I think that's being selfish of Juanita is. It doesn't mean that Tagaytay is a tourist spot poor people doesn't have the right to stay in that area and make a living in a way they can. Most specially, these people doesn't do harm to Juanita. If she's living in a comfortable life, I think it's better to help what she can to people like these instead of chasing them away to a place where they can make a living. I think these people doesn't like their status it's that they only have no better choice.

  • Jan   Antipolo city -- 2009-10-21

juanita is a filipina herself, living in the US and doesn't know what she is saying.
as we say in the Philippines: she's plastic (=not real).
she probably grew up in a slum area but got lucky to be able to move to the US.

Hello everybody! How trilled I was to read your comments about the poor people living in Tagaytay. I would like to start by telling you that we are a group uplifting the living condition of the poor families who found livelihood here in this beautiful and progressive city.Poor people came to help develop the city and they are mostly family men who work to support their families. These workers will never be rich because their salaries are barely enough to support the basic needs of the families they left behind. To make both ends meet, what do they do? They transport their families to tagaytay to save on transportation and at the same time personally together with the wife bring ahead the children. This is why there are poor people here in Tagaytay - inspite it being a tourist spot. And for these two reasons, namely to have a decent living and to bring ahead together husband and wife their family, our group had ventured in helping them acquire decent homes for as low at i,500php a month and thus get inserted in a decent community. They cannot be called rich but inspite their statues in life, the lowly salaried workers of our society, they are now decent citizens of this Tourist Spot in the Phillippines called Tagaytay.

I hope this Juanita gave us a lesson to think before we speak. Sometimes, when we do not think what comes out of our mouth, could pretty much tell other people how idiotic, moronic, or insensitive we are. Juanita's comments simply demonstrate that a little learning is a very dangerous thing. I doubt that she is that far ahead than those people in Tagaytay struggling to make an honest living. There is no shame of being poor wherever they are. If Juanita ever revisits this site, I wish she'll realize that she should be ashamed of herself, that is if she is smart enough.

With full respect, these people are earning their living in an honest way, nothing is wrong if they live at a market in a tourist area of tagaytay. For balikbayans visiting please donot bargain while buying from them instead give an extra money and bless them.
