Agriculture is a major industry in Ilocos Sur, with about half the land devoted to farming (rice, corn, vegetables and root crops like cassava, yam, sweet potato and singkamas). Vegetable production includes eggplant, tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, sweet pepper, ampalaya, upo, squash and mongo.
