This picture shows a typical Aeta house in a settlement area in Pampanga. Known as a "bahay kubo," it is simply constructed from cheap materials such as nipa, bamboo and strings. Aetas are traditionally communal, and the presence of a hog at the side of this house signify their practice of animal husbandry.

After looking at photos of pre-eruption Ayta/Aeta dwellings and visiting several villages and resettlement centers in 2010 I suspect that the dwelling in this photo might reflect practices that arose in the disrupted conditions following the eruption more than traditional (pre-1991) modes of fabricating village dwelling structures. The art of weaving wall matting seems to have been well developed in some communities. Just a thought - great photo illustrating construction practices in a given time and place.
