The Landmark Center used to be the Federal Court Building where there were several high profile court cases.
John Dillinger was tried here as was Baby Face Nelson, Machine Gun Kelly, Ma Barker and her sons, and Alvin "Creepy" Karpis and several other notorious gangsters of the 1930's.
