Located at the west end of Lake Street just past Uptown, Lake Calhoun is a little over three miles around and is used for canoeing, sailing, and fishing. Like other city lakes, it is surrounded by walking and biking paths. It has three public beaches on the north, east, and south sides.

In the northeast corner there is a a concession stand, moors for sailboats, a dock, and a canoe rental service run by the parks department (some of the pictures in this category were taken from a canoe).

Lake Calhoun is connected to Lake of the Isles by the Calhoun Lagoon. You get there by passing under Lake Street, at the north end of the lake. Like the other city lakes, it's surrounded by attractive homes.

A new settling pond at the southwest corner has improved the water quality in the lake by collecting phosphorus from runoff water. This causes algae to grow in the settling pond instead of the lake.
